Save Bears Ears, Stewards of San Juan County, Trump this Monument

The Stewards of San Juan County are pleased to announce a community event this weekend to celebrate local voices in anticipation of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s visit to San Juan County. The event highlights work done by locals to oppose the 1.35-million-acre Bears Ears National Monument.

What: Celebrate the local voices of San Juan County

When: Saturday, May 6th, at 1 p.m.

Where: Pioneer Park in Blanding, UT (12 N. Grayson Parkway, Behind Blanding City Visitor’s Center)

Event Details:

  • Listen to remarks by board members of Stewards of San Juan County
  • Record a video message or write a letter for Secretary Zinke
  • Learn how to stay involved in public land issues

“San Juan County is eager to have Secretary Zinke visit our home and see firsthand why locals oppose the national monument designation. We have worked tirelessly to advocate for what’s best for this land, and it’s nice to know that someone is finally listening.” – Jami Bayles, SOS President

“Unlike the rally being held 300 miles away at the state Capitol, the San Juan celebration of local voices is about bringing together those who know and love our public lands the most. For the monument advocates far, far away, San Juan County is a vacation spot. For First Nations people, it’s our home.” – Ryan Benally, SOS Vice President
