As many of you know, there has been a lot of stirring in our corner of the world this weekend in anticipation of an announcement or recommendation from the White House regarding the Bears Ears National Monument and Secretary Zinke’s visit. As a message of solidarity and continued awareness, SOS invites you to participate in a non-rally-Rally of our own, while you’re spending time with your families and other commitments. So, with that, we invite you to participate with us in the following:
1) You’ve noticed the increased traffic and pro monument visitors? Put up your yard signs speaking out for OUR cause! Let’s try to cover this town as much as we can!
2) Choose your wardrobe carefully; only Patagonia attire allowed. Just kidding! Adults and kids, sport your NO MONUMENT, RESCIND BEARS EARS and BE NICE T-shirts! You’ll be turning heads for sure!
3) Use the attached overlay on your social media accounts!
This weekend and as long as you wish! Ask your family and friends around the world to share and do the same.
4) Take a fun photo by our new BILLBOARD north of Blanding!
Participate in any 3 (or ALL) of these “rally” ideas; hashtag them with #SOSlocalvoices OR email them to SOS@stewardsofsanjuan.org to be entered in a prize drawing!
Also, with the added local attention, please be extra attentive to your cookout/campsite areas. Cleanup, litter wherever you see any; if you choose to engage in Monument conversation remember to be respectful. I know we already to these things on a regular basis, but things can get heated and they’d love a chance to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Thank you all!
